I teach in person mainly in New Zealand, click below to find out how to hire me to come and teach your group.
My name is Sheila Christensen, I'm a teacher, designer and author of quilt books as well as a shop owner, and I live in Masterton New Zealand with my husband Carl. I am the owner of Quilters' Lane, my local quilt shop, where I originally learned to make quilts.
I'm also an obsessed quilter who loves to sing and dance around her sewing room.
My two books are both about my easy Triangle Patchwork techniques which you can use to create stunning quilts with rotary cutting and machine piecing.
I teach my students of all levels not to be scared of trying new techniques, and to be adventurous in their fabric choices. Quilting is so much fun and I love to encourage curiosity, playfulness and courage!
I am a bit of a quilt math nerd and love to figure out new patterns, and help my students with the nitty gritty of Quilt Maths.
I would love you to join me in one of my online classes. I also teach in person mostly here in New Zealand, and I teach and lecture via Zoom.

"As a novice quilter, I have found your videos absolutely brilliant - your cutting and sewing instruction is very clear and easy to follow. Most importantly for me, you have taken the "scariness" out of 60 degree triangles."
Each year I design two 'Puzzle Mystery Quilts' These come pre-cut and ready to sew. They start in February and July, and sign ups open in December and May.
You can purchase these in monthly kit form from Cotton Cuts in the USA and Modern Quilt Club in the UK.
The next Mystery (July 2021) will also be available from Quilters' Lane in New Zealand.
